This reel was examined by John Shaner, formerly with Hardy Bros. USA, who assisted us with identifying and describing this interesting reel. This reel dates from the late 1920's. Very good condition.

Tarpon fly reel. Line weight 12. The diameter is 3 7/8 inches. The spool width is 1 inch. First model which included the "S" handle. RHW antireverse. This reel was crafted in the late 1960s by Bob Mc Christian in Miami, Florida. Included is line and backing and a zippered suede pouch. It is excellent mechanically with minor finish rubs. One of the winding knobs is slightly bent which does not affect its use.

Frame, spool parts, side plates and handle are machined from solid aluminum stock. The spool is 3 parts, 2 side plates and hub. Name plate, spool lock knob and bearings cap are nickel silver. Reel and spool are in a custom box. The foam has been replaced and covered with black felt. Very good condition.
