Degere, Francis "Digger" BF591 Degere 6'10", 2/2 Model 190 Shadow Pool. Serial number 0046D. Weighing 3.3 oz. Double taper 3 line weight is what Digger recommended. Cinnamon wraps with red trim. Cigar cork grip with down sliding nickel silver cap and ring with zebra wood insert. Nickel silver ferrules. This Adams, Mass builder purportedly spent 100 yours crafting his rods. Each rod was crafted from a single culm of bamboo. He cured the bamboo with nitrogen which replaced the oxygen in the water molecules in the bamboo. Nitrogen also gave the blanks a honey tone. Includes original cloth bag and aluminum tube. Condition is excellent. $1,395. Line weight 4-5. The rod is wrapped with black silk with white tipping. Among the characteristics of a Registered is 6 guides on the tip rather than 5, 5 on the mid rather than 4, chrome plated up-locking reel seat, silk rod bag and black anodized aluminum tube with an engraved aluminum name plate. Bros. (This is an early Goodwin Granger trade rod) Model 7633. HEH (4 line weight)
Since little is known about Goodwin Granger trade rods, it is difficult to
accurately date this rod. Our best estimate is late 1920's to early
1930's. Coke bottle grip. Agate stripping guide.
Tip tops are stamped "Pat. 8-3-15". The thread wraps appear to be tan silk
tipped in brown. Nickel silver ferrules sizes 10 and 15. Nickel silver winding
check. Actual weight of rod is 3.8 oz. Nickel silver sliding band reel seat with
soldered hood. Includes original cloth bag and aluminum tube. This rod is in
excellent condition. We usually clean the grips and buff the ferrules and reel
seats. However, we will do that only upon purchaser's request. This is a very
rare rod.
Hardy Heddon BF626 Heddon, 8', 2/2 No. 1000 "The Rod-of-Rods". Deluxe Featherweight. Ferrule size #0, for line weight 6. Actual weight 4.3 oz. on our digital scale. Swelled butt. Cigar cork grip. Nickel silver ferrules finished in black nickel.. The reel seat is circassian walnut with threaded portion of polished black tenite. Guides, female ferrule welt, and reel seat hardware are gold plated including the agate stripping guide. Thread wraps are antique gold silk with rich mahogany brown silk. Includes original cloth bag, gold anodized aluminum tube and heavy top grain cowhide case large enough to hold two rods. This rod was crafted between 1949 and 1953. The condition is excellent with some minor varnish rubs and some wearing of the gold plating. The bottom of the leather case needs repair. $2,795. SOLD Howells G. H. original cloth bag with stiffener and labeled aluminum brass capped tube.
Mint condition. Both H. L. Leonard Duracane rods (BF413) and this rod
were purchased in the mid 1970's from the Leonard company by the same
person.

Nickel silver ferrules size 9 and 13. Ferrule patent dates Sept. 3, 1878
and Oct. 25 1917. Perfection tip tops stamped PT. Reverse twist snake
guides. Cork grip measures 4 1/4 inches. Gently swelled butt. Original
brass capped aluminum tube and cloth bag (missing tag). Red silk wraps
with olive green tipping at ferrules and hook keeper wrap. There are a few
minor varnish dings. The tube end cap is split (see image). Otherwise this
rare little rod is in excellent condition. $3,395.

in March 1989 by Ron White. Weighing 2 5/8 oz. (actual weight on our
digital scale 3 oz.) Line weight 4. The rod has a cigar grip with a
birds-eye maple insert with down-sliding nickel silver cap and ring. The
rod is wrapped with translucent light brown thread tipped with red.
Included original cloth bag and labeled black powder coated brass capped
tube. This is a limited edition rod. Inscribed on the blank is (Battenkill
set 1 of 7). Also inscribed is the original owner's name. This rod is in
mint condition.

9', 3/2 Early serial number 951. Reel seat insert patented
June 6, 1882, which dates this rod to approximately late 1880's. Cigar

tops. Red silk wraps with full intermediates. Includes cloth bag (possible

6', 1 piece. Superfine, one piece. Orvis rates this as a 6 weight, but
casts a WF5.Weighing 1 7/8 oz., this fast action rod has a cigar grip with
a butternut insert reel seat with cap and sliding ring. The impregnated
cane rod is wrapped in brown thread. Excellent plus condition with some
minor wear on the butternut reel seat insert finish. Includes original bag
and tube with partial label. This rod is was built January 28, 1955.

Weighing 2 1/8 oz. The label says 6 weight, it will cast a line weight
4-5. Size 11 ferrule The rod has a cigar cork grip with a cork insert reel
seat and sliding rings. The rod is wrapped with dark brown thread.

weight. The wraps are brown silk tipped with black. Blued nickel silver
ferrules with plugs. Up-locking reel seat with cedar insert. This rod is
mint un-fished and has tissue paper on the grip. Includes original labeled
tube and bag with hang tag. Updated
information as of March 2, 2009. After careful examination of the tissue
paper wrap on the grip, we believe the inscription is the following: " 8
1/2, 16/10 (ferrule sizes) made for Osborn (store where this rod was first
sold)." This is a genuine made by Jim Payne rod.
Phillipson
BF269 Phillipson 7'6", 2/2 Premium model. Weighing 3 3/4 oz.
Cast (DT4) HEH line weight. Hammer grip. Black anodized aluminum no rock
reel seat. Wrapped with pure black silk tipped with gold and black. This
was Phillipson's top of the line rod and was crafted between 1946 and
1952. Includes original bag and square aluminum tube including cap. The
rod is in excellent + condition. $1,295.

between 1946 and 1952. The butt section is full length, however the butt
cap is scratched as is the barrel of the reel seat. There are some chips
at the base of the cork grip. One tip is 2 1/4 inches short at the ferrule
end. The full length tip has been scarfed below the first guide from the
tip top. There is a 1/2 inch repair wrap at the end of the scarf. The
scarfed bamboo is not a good color or taper match. Both of these tips can
be properly scarfed and will make an excellent fishing rod. $750.
