BF678 Orvis 6'6", 2/2  Impregnated Deluxe, serial number 40028 built in 1965. Weighing 2 1/8 oz. The label says 6 weight, it will cast a line weight 4-5. Size 11 ferrule The rod has a cigar cork grip with a cork insert reel seat and sliding rings. The rod is wrapped with dark brown thread. Included cloth bag and original labeled tube. BF450 E. F. Payne  6', 2/2   Model 95. This delicate little rod weighs 1 3/4 oz. and will cast a DT3 or 4 weight line. The wraps are brown silk tipped with gold. BF451 E. F.  Payne  8', 3/2  Model 201, serial number 24259. The rod weighs 4 5/8, 5 line weight. The wraps are brown silk tipped with gold. Blued nickel silver ferrules. Up-locking reel seat with cedar insert. Ferrule plugs. Original tube and replacement bag with hang tag. All sections are the same length, the rod is in excellent original condition.  $5,500.  SOLD

BF452 E. F. Payne   8'6", 3/2  Model 204. The rod weighs 4 9/16 oz. Light DT5 weight. The wraps are brown silk tipped with black. Blued nickel silver ferrules with plugs. Up-locking reel seat with cedar insert. This rod is mint un-fished and has tissue paper on the grip. Includes original labeled tube and bag with hang tag.  Updated information as of March 2, 2009. After careful examination of the tissue paper wrap on the grip, we believe the inscription is the following: " 8 1/2, 16/10 (ferrule sizes) made for Osborn (store where this rod was first sold)." BF269 Phillipson 7'6", 2/2 Premium model. Weighing 3 3/4 oz. Cast (DT4) HEH line weight. Hammer grip. Black anodized aluminum no rock reel seat. Wrapped with pure black silk tipped with gold and black. This was Phillipson's top of the line rod and was crafted between 1946 and 1952. Includes original bag and square aluminum tube including cap. BF387 Phillipson  9',  3/2  Premium model. Weighing 5 5/8 oz. HCH (DT6) line weight. Hammer grip. Black anodized aluminum no rock reel seat. Wrapped with pure black silk tipped with gold and black. This was Phillipson's top of the line rod and was crafted between 1946 and 1952. Includes original bag and square aluminum tube, missing cap. The rod has plastic on the grip and is mint un-fished.  $950.  NOW $850. SOLD

BF406 Phillipson  7', 2/2  Premium This was the top of the line Phillipson bamboo fishing rods. Weighing 3.6 oz, Line weight HEH or #5. Perfect action, perfect balance, extreme sensitivity and tremendous power for every ounce of weight. Hammer handle cork grip. Aluminum no rock reel seat anodized black. Hard drawn nickel silver ferrules shaped to fit the cane. Perfection chrome butt guide and tip tops, stainless steel snake guides. Wrapped with pure black silk thread tipped with gold and black. Includes original bag and original labeled tube. This rod was crafted between 1946 and 1952. The butt section is full length, however the butt cap is scratched as is the barrel of the reel seat. There are some chips at the base of the cork grip. One tip is 2 1/4 inches short at the ferrule end. The full length tip has been scarfed below the first guide from the tip top. There is a 1/2 inch repair wrap at the end of the scarf. The scarfed bamboo is not a good color or taper match. Both of these tips can be properly scarfed and will make an excellent fishing rod. $750.  SOLD

BF475 Phillipson  7'6", 2/2 Peerless owned by Bill Phillipson with letter of authenticity from his son Donald. Impregnated, darkly flamed cane, weighing 3 7/16 oz., rated for a # 5 line weight. This rod was crafted in the late 1960's or early 1970's. The Perfection hard chrome snakes and carbide stripping guide are wrapped with Nymo Henna nylon thread with yellow trim. The reel seat is cork with bronze anodized aluminum down-locking hardware. Included are an original cloth bag and labeled Phillipson gold anodized aluminum tube. Round Welsh split jar cork grip. Aluminum locking reel seat anodized brown. Hard drawn nickel silver ferrules shaped to fit the cane. Perfection chrome butt guide and tip tops, tungsten steel snake guides. Wrapped with golden yellow nylon thread tipped with black. Includes original bag and tube. Included are an original cloth bag and labeled Phillipson aluminum tube. The condition is excellent. The only imperfection is some very light scratching on the butt cap.  $995. SOLD

BF526 Phillipson 8',  3/2 Peerless "63" Impregnated, 4 1/4 oz., line #5. This rod was crafted in 1963. BF556 Phillipson 8', 3/2  Premium. HDH 5 line weight. Although stated on the rod and tube 4 1/4 oz., the rod actually weighs 4.4 oz.. This was the top of the line Phillipson fishing rods. Perfect action, perfect balance, extreme sensitivity and tremendous power for every ounce of weight. Hammer handle cork grip. Aluminum no rock reel seat anodized black. Hard drawn nickel silver ferrules shaped to fit the cane with witness marks. Perfection chrome butt guide and tip tops, stainless steel snake guides. Wrapped with pure black silk thread tipped with gold and black. Includes original bag and labeled square aluminum tube with cap. This rod was crafted between 1946 and 1952. BF488 Phillipson  8'6", 3/2, Peerless Dry Fly Special. Impregnated cane. Weighing 5.1 oz. This rod will cast a 5/6 line weight. In 1972 the Dry Fly Special rod included an extra handle to use on the middle section as an ultra light fly rod. Although the butt section is inscribed 5 1/2', the actual length of this ultra light fly rod rod is 6'3", weighing 2.7 oz. The guides are wrapped using Henna brown with a yellow spiral. The reel seat is burgundy anodized no-rock. Torpedo cork grip. Includes original cloth bag and gold anodized aluminum tube. The condition is very good. The blind wrap covers a hook ding. There is a small patch on the cork grip.  $995.  SOLD

BF550 Phillipson  7'6", 2/2 Powr Pakt weighing 4.3 oz. Line weight 5. This rod was crafted in 1946 or 1947. Aluminum locking reel seat anodized gold with brown colored plastic insert. The wraps are golden yellow nylon tipped with black. Includes original cloth bag and aluminum tube. The rod has the following issues: the butt ferrule and one of the tip ferrules is scratched. The butt cap is slightly scratched. There is a small hook ding on the bottom of the grip. There are a couple of minor varnish rubs. Very good condition.  $995.  SOLD

BF595 Phillipson  8'6", 3/2 Ed M. Hunter Approved, crafted by Phillipson, introduced in 1948 and marketed by Dave Cook's Sporting Goods. This rod weighs 5.1 oz and the ferrule sizes are 11 and 17. The rod was named for Ed M. Hunter, Outdoor Editor of The Denver Post. The reel seat is black anodized no rock. The ferrules are Phillipson nickel silver. Guides and ferrules are wrapped with black silk. This rod has plastic on grip and has never been fished. Included a cloth bag and cardboard tube.  $795.  SOLD

BF527 Phillipson 8'6",  3/2 Peerless impregnated, weighing 5 1/2 oz., rated for a # 6 line weight. This rod was crafted in the late 1960's or early 1970's. The Perfection hard chrome snakes and carbide stripping guide are wrapped with Nymo Henna nylon thread with yellow spiral. The no rock reel seat has a bronze barrel with gold nut and butt cap anodized aluminum down-locking hardware. Included are an original cloth bag and labeled Phillipson aluminum tube. BF548 Phillipson  8'6",  3/1  Peerless "63" Impregnated, Dry Fly Special, weighing 5 1/2 oz., for line #7. This rod was crafted in 1963. The Perfection hard chrome snake guides are wrapped with Pacific green nylon thread with a short spiral. Torpedo cork grip. The reel seat is bronze anodized aluminum no-rock that was crafted by the late Paul Hightower. The nickel silver ferrules have witness marks. Included is a replacement cloth bag and labeled Phillipson gold anodized aluminum tube. This rod was purchased at Gart's Sports Castle in Denver and may have been sold as a single tip rod. BF596 Phillipson,  7', 2/2  Paramount, high grade angler's model. HDH 5 weight. The rod weighs 3.75 oz. Perfectly staggered nodes match for color and balance. Wrapped with black and white jasper thread, tipped with gold, black and gold. This rod was crafted by Phillipson between 1946 and 1949. Hammer handle grip. Brown plastic with metal thread locking reel seat to match the natural golden color of rod. Includes original cloth bag and genuine replacement Phillipson aluminum tube. The condition is excellent. We usually clean rod grips, but we are leaving Ted's DNA as well as 10, which was his 10 inch measuring mark inscribed by Ted.  $1,750.  SOLD

BF611 Phillipson  8', 3/2 Pacemaker, HEH line weight 5, 4 1/4 oz. A fine fly rod notable for its sensitive action and sturdy construction. Round Welsh split jar cork grip. Green anodized aluminum no rock reel seat. Phillipson's hard-drawn nickel silver ferrules shaped to fit solidly over the cane. Chrome butt guide. Perfection snake guides and tip tops. Wrapped with green nylon tipped with black. This rod was crafted between 1952 and 1954. Includes Phillipson replacement cloth bag and aluminum tube. Excellent condition. BF633 Phillipson  8', 3/2  Paramount. Crafted between 1946 and 1949. The rod weighs 4 1/4 oz. and will cast a 5 {HE} line weight. The hard drawn nickel silver ferrules were crafted by the late Paul Hightower. Brown plastic with metal thread locking reel seat to match natural golden color of the rod. Wrapped with black and white jasper thread tipped with gold, black and gold. Includes original cloth bag and labeled anodized aluminum tube. This model is rare and is the second highest quality Phillipson bamboo fly rod. There is some varnish chipping between the butt ferrule and stripping guide (see image). One guide foot on the mid has been re-wrapped. Otherwise the condition is excellent.  $1,195.  SOLD

BF683 Phillipson  8'6",  3/2 Peerless impregnated, Dry Fly Special weighing 5 1/2 oz., rated for a # 6 line weight. This rod was crafted in the late 1960's. BF288 Winston 8', 3/2 Trout Rod weighing 4 1/8 oz. Casts a 5 weight line. Serial number 3486. Cigar shaped cork grip. The reel seat is nickel silver down locking with teak insert. The stripping guide has an agate ring. The guides are wrapped with light brown silk with black trim wraps. Includes thick cloth bag embroidered with the Winston logo and dark brown anodized aluminum tube with brass cap and collar. Also included is an Arne Mason leather tube. The rod was crafted in 2000 by Glen Brackett and Jeff Walker as is so inscribed on the shaft. The rod has been lawn cast only and is in mint condition. $3,295. SOLD

BF357 Winston 8'9" 3/2  Serial number 3303, weighing 5 1/8 oz., 7/8 line weight. Down-locking nickel silver hardware over lacewood spacer with detachable lacewood fighting butt. Half wells grip. The black guides and agate stripper are wrapped with cinnamon colored wraps. The ferrules are wrapped and the guide feet are double wrapped. This excellent summer steelhead or light salmon rod has been fished only once. The rod casts a Wolf triangle taper 7 wt. floating line very well. BF537 Winston  8', 3/2  Trout Rod weighing 4 1/8 oz. which casts a 5 weight line. Serial number 3842. Cigar cork grip. The reel seat hardware is nickel silver up-locking with burled maple insert. Agate stripping guide. Titanium snake guides. The guides are wrapped with translucent tan thread. Crafted by Glenn Bracket in 2004, this rod was gently fished and is in excellent plus condition. BF558  Winston R. L.  7', 2/1  San Francisco rod. Serial number 9621. Crafted in 1969. Quite possibly crafted during Gary Howells last year at Winston. Line weight 4, weighing 2 3/4 oz. Blonde colored cane. Reverse half Wells cork grip with down-sliding cap and ring over cork reel seat. Tan wraps. Carbide stripper. We have priced this rod as a single tip rod because the second tip is 7 inches short. Perhaps Glenn Brackett will craft a new tip for this rod or the short tip could be scarfed.
